Georgia O’Keeffe’s luscious, sensuous floral
paintings will serve as inspiration for your artwork in this two-day
workshop. We’ll
discuss her use of color and composition as means to expression.
Working in a medium of your choice, you will be encouraged to take an
intimate look into the form of flowers and extract and express their
essence. Come into the garden, open to going beyond the botanical,
focusing inward, expanding outward.
Plenty of individual guidance and group sharing will support you in this
exploration.

Following in the tradition of Manet and Gauguin, this two-day
workshop will offer the unique opportunity to combine the
human figure with the lovely setting of Linwood Gardens.
Two professional, nude or clothed female models will be available
both days. You will explore numerous visual
possibilities through instruction in gesture and line drawings
using a variety of traditional media. Extended
poses will allow for value renderings and painting.
All levels of experience are welcome. Beginners will receive
enough structure to guide them while those more advanced
will be able to focus on their own interests.

In this beautiful country setting, we will share our emerging poems
and gently critique one another, with a chance provided for revising
and reading aloud. The instructor will suggest several writing exercises
and time will be incorporated into the day for walking in the gardens,
conjuring ideas, writing in experimental forms. We will consider each
others' poems in an entirely unscholarly manner. Bring your own lunch
and drink. Nourishment of a less tangible kind will inevitably emerge
from among our various sensibilities.

This workshop will focus on capturing the essence of the
landscape through direct painting outdoors. Students will
learn to select a subject, develop a composition, and apply
a basic oil technique to complete a painting in a short amount
of time. Jean will demonstrate paint application, color mixing,
and discuss the use of atmospheric perspective. You can expect
individual guidance and a group critique. A
great introduction to plein air painting. some experience with oils is helpful.

Spend the day experiencing a variety of exercises and methods that will help to reinforce the fundamentals of working with pastels. Weather permitting we will work en plein air overlooking the beautiful Linwood landscape. If there is rain, we will work indoors from an interior setting. In the morning we will focus on strategies for successful beginnings through understanding values and composition. In the afternoon we will turn our attention to the use of color and color mixing. The class will run from 10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Cost: $75. Weather permitting, Kathryn will extend the class for early evening plein air painting. 5:00 p.m. - 8 p.m. for an additional charge of $25.

Chi Nei Tsang 102
Global Body Attitude; Breath & Structure
Chi Nei Tsang is a wholistic approach to massage therapy within a
Traditional Chinese Medicine paradigm. In this level 2 course you will learn
how to relieve internal patterns of tension and the resulting misalignments
of the posture and flow of chi through the body. CNT works to provide
deep healing by working directly on internal dysfunctions and energy
blocks. CNT is not only a body therapy technique, but a whole discipline
involving training in vital energy cultivation (qigong) and active meditations
to help open body, mind, and spirit.
